The Caravel Data Governance offers a low effort and effective solution to control the ever-growing amount of data, in order to improve business outcomes.

Data Governance could be a complex activity. So Caravel DG focus on simplicity and offers all the power through a clear and intuitive interface, suited for both TI and business users. Graphic representation of assets and data mechanisms, allows a fast and complete understanding.

Organized in a top-down approach, ranges from a general overview to the details of every specific single field,  allowing in addition a complete modelling of Data.

Five different pages, with specific functionality (visors and controls), allow the user to navigate down to the details, and follow and manage the corporate data flows.

Network Page
The starting point of the analysis. Offers a general vision of data universe. A graphic model describes top-level structures (programs and files) and their relationships. The objects shown allow a intuitive navigation to higher detail levels.
Programa Analysis Page
The data flows are analyzed beside the programs, considering the reciprocal interactions. Transformations made by programs are analyzed in detail, displaying the exact lines where the actions are performed.
Data Dictionary Page
Every container has a Universal Unique Identifier (UUID) assigned by the tool and are shown in the dictionary, with the option to search, select and navigate at any level of detail. Additionally, the dictionary allows to define and edit a wide range of Metadata information.
Data Structure Page
The data is considered at its various levels of complexity. Single or composite data have specific analysis and handlings according to his structure.
Data Analysis Page
Once determined the structure, the Data Lineage of every component is built and shown.

Network pageTop

The NETWORK page is the starting point of the system analysis. This page offers a top vision of all the data containers (files, tables, variables), processes (programs, external calls) and its relationships (create, update, read or delete).

A complete, easy to understand image of the whole system. From here the user can go down to any detail.

Clicking on every object a complete information can be shown and according to object types, the navigation to different pages can be activated.

On any page a complete set of tools are available to navigate, discover and build data models. According the type of object, the controls automatically vary.

Overview vision of all data containers

An overview that offers a comprehensive scheme of the data organization and flows from which to navigate.

All the objects are analyzed

All the objects included in the data universe are analyzed and relative flows described.

Clicking on an object can reveal instantly the members of its group, it is, containers and data processes associated with him.

Groups and subgroups can be defined at different levels of depth, allowing to identify subsystems, the functional components in the data structure.

Subsystems can be identified, extracted and analyzed separately, in order to focus their various characteristics and follow specific data-flows.

Any of them can be identified and labeled separately, including all the appropriate Metadata (owner, responsible, type, level of protection, etc.).

Managing the Metadata can be performed in both Network and Data Dictionary pages.

In every page the different menus with powerful options are available.

Information in the legends identifies, according to every visor, the kind of objects and relationships.

Program Analysis pageTop

From any program, it is possible to trace the flow of each data set. The PROGRAM ANALYSIS page, shows all the existing flows, being able to expand or contract, each of the branches and establish different levels of detail.

Columns, files, variables, programs, calls, and parameters are displayed as nodes of the flow path, identifying both direction and access method.

Inside each node, additional information is presented.

The operations and transformations of the data are displayed and described: operations, conditional bifurcations, and SQL operations.

Clicking in a specific node all the related flows can be expanded or collapsed at different levels.

The DICTIONARY is a complete list of all the data containers of any kind included in the whole system.

The main characteristics of every data are displayed, clearly marking single or composite data structures. Clicking on every data structure is possible to see the more detailed information.

As in any page, in the upper right corner, there are a set of tools to search and filter all the data structures.

Complex data organizations can be revealed and managed.

Offers the opportunity to navigate to the DATA ANALYSIS page to search the data lineage of every structure.

From any data structure, it is possible to trace the flow of each data container.

The DATA ANALYSIS page shows the organization of each of these flows describing the complete Lineage of all elements going to the primary sources of the data.

Also, in this case, different types of detail can be established and the related flows can be expanded or collapsed at different levels.

The nodes of data, programs, etc., can also show his information in different modes.

The complete Lineage schema can also be expanded or collapsed to get the most fitting vision.
